Yes! The individual with a disability is eligible to open a Texas ABLE® Program Account and may open an account independently if he or she is over the age of 18. If the individual is unable to establish and manage his or her account or prefers to have assistance, a parent, legal guardian, or other authorized fiduciary of the individual may act on the individual’s behalf to open and manage the account.

Unfortunately, the individual may not be eligible to open a Texas ABLE® Program Account.
